Job description: Head of Merchandising – Merchandising Director – Dunhill – Shanghai
Position Summary
- To manage all elements of our China product & price strategy and requirements;
- The key link between the Commercial teams and HQ Product Marketing & Merchandising team;
- To lead the China merchandising team and implement the process and strategy to develop the team;
- To be a key member of the Global Senior Leadership Team and Regional Executive Team. Responsibilities & Accountabilities Monitor Product Performance To Maximize Sales
- To maintain clear channel of communication between commercial teams & supply chain teams on all product related matters & requirements;
- Review and action any & all product requirements to maximize the business (understand what is performing where, when & why;
- Monitor full-price, seasonal mark down, goods returns, product consolidation, stock allocations, off-season stock strategies to optimize sales;
- Work closely with retail and marketing teams to establish new product launch strategy, trunk shows, press days etc;
- Work with training and retail teams to develop and deliver product trainings to retail teams;
- Manage existing and new product launch delivery-allocations with the commercial teams to maximize potential sales;
- Monitor any potential stock issues communicate closely with HQ and local Logistics to find solutions. Manage Regional Product & Pricing Requirements
- Manage and coordinate the regional OTB and buying process;
- Be the local contact person for all product related brand events;
- Monitor, communicate and agree the product price structures of all products between regional management and HQ;
- Communicate with the London Product & Marketing team on any & all elements of the above tasks;
- Work with the local MTM & Bespoke team to ensure the process of this business is as efficient as possible. Look at ways to maximize this category’s performance. Monitor & Communicate Regional Trends / Opportunities
- Develop, implement and maintain a regular system and process of communication with HQ Product Marketing, Merchandise and Design teams on competitor and market trends across all product categories;
- Perform regular analysis on business performance, trends, requests, opportunities or risks;
- Monitor & manage price structures, opportunities or risks both internally and externally.
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements Experience & Education
- Bachelor Degree or above with at least 10 years of experience in merchandising in luxury retail, preferable in menswear & accessories with 4 years in a managerial capacity;
- Sound knowledge of luxury menswear and the operation of luxury retail; Skills & Capabilities
- Strong strategic thinker with demonstrated brand management experience;
- Ability to understand fashion trend and translate product insight to business opportunities;
- Ability to prioritize whilst managing multiple projects;
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Demonstrated people/team management skills;
- Expertise in planning, budgeting;
- Ability to collaborate cross functionally to achieve brand vision;
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to influence, motivate and negotiate;
- Motivated, detail – minded, can-do oriented, independent and proactive approach to work;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with fluent Chinese and English.
